Cookie policy

What are cookies?

Our website uses cookies. A cookie is a small data file your browser uses to save information it sends. Personal information is never saved in cookies. Using cookies is safe.

There are two types of cookies: functional cookies and non-functional cookies. Functional cookies ensure that the website works properly, while non-functional cookies analyse user behaviour.

Why do we use cookies?

We use cookies to track web statistics and to make the website easier to use. This helps us tailor our marketing decisions to our website visitors’ needs. We will never use the data collected by cookies to focus on specific people.

Cookies used on this website

On our website, we differentiate between two types of cookies: functional cookies and non-functional cookies.

Analytics cookies

Analytics cookies collect information about your use of the site, and enable us to improve the way it works. For example, analytics cookies show us which are the most frequently visited pages on the site, help us record any difficulties you have with the site, and show us whether our advertising is effective or not. This allows us to see the overall patterns of usage on the site, rather than the usage of a single person. We use the information to analyse the site traffic, but we do not examine this information for individually identifying information. We try to anonymize this data as much as possible while ensuring it remains suitable for our purposes. TOPdesk does not maintain this data; however, the tools we use do. Their privacy policies feature information about what they do with your data.

Web traffic tracking
We use Google Analytics to keep track of the number of visitors to our website and gain insight into their behaviour, such as the routes they choose. In order to do this, Google Analytics installs a number of cookies to collect data: __utma, __utmb, __utmc, and __utmz.

Google Adwords
3rd party

We use Google Adwords cookies for two purposes. Firstly, we determine the number of conversions with Google Adwords. We do this to track how many people make a request on our website as a result of one of our adverts. This data is very valuable to us; it enables us to measure the success rate of our marketing campaigns. Google Adwords uses two cookies for this: ld and _drt.
Secondly, Google Adwords enables us to target adverts to your previously specified interests. These interests are based on the specific pages that you have visited on our website. The pages are saved in a remarketing cookie. This cookie places our adverts on third party websites to which we have explicitly given permission.

Hotjar

To function properly, Hotjar stores cookies on your browser. This is needed to identify your visit across multiple pages/sessions and display the correct content to your visit such as Feedback widgets.

We use Perfect Audience as a retargeting platform for our web visitors. It helps us customize your online user experience and gives us helpful statistics and analysis regarding our websites and advertisement. To work optimally, Perfect Audience may collect some of your information anonymously.

Our website features Twitter streams at various locations. These streams send a request to Twitter to stream the tweets relating to TOPdesk. Twitter registers such requests, setting up a cookie on the Twitter domain (if you are not logged in to Twitter) in the process: guest_id.
More cookies are installed if you are logged in to Twitter, namely: twll, twid, secure_session, remember_checked, original_referer, lang, k, g, guest_id, auth_token_session, auth_token, _twitter_sess, __utma, __utmb, __utmc, and __utmz.

We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. This mode installs a limited number of cookies. The difference between these cookies and those placed by Google Analytics is that these are not set up within TOPdesk’s domain, but within YouTube’s domain. Cookies are only installed when you press play. The cookies used are: use_hitbox, visitor_info1_live, and PREF.
